Authentic – Independent – Loyal.

We live by our values and believe in the importance of connecting people and organisations for optimum work-life fulfilment and success, whatever your measure of that may be

Neil Cox

Neil Cox is an ex-corporate head of recruitment who’s spent his career dealing with both the good (and the bad) of the supplier world. After 20 years in the industry, seeing too many candidates treated as a commodity rather than an individual, he set up Rise Above Consulting to put the human back into human resources.

A few facts:

Neil specialises in banking and financial services, with several industry high-profile searches completed. If you’re a challenger bank or building society, or need succession plans for specialist roles, he’ll be especially delighted to help.

Seeing the extraordinary in every individual, Neil makes sure those who thrive do so because they’re the very best talent for the job.

Outside of work, Neil’s time is taken up by three kids, a punk band (no autographs, please) and bolder-than-your-average cooking challenges.

Emma Gant

She’s headhunted around the world for more than 15 years. Yet Emma Gant’s energy & enthusiasm for executive search services only continues to bloom. Her work spans from recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) to executive search firms, building a respected reputation within the Insurance, Consumer Finance and SME markets, both domestically and globally. Emma joined Rise Above Consulting in 2020, enthused by Neil’s ethical approach to recruitment.

A few facts:

First and foremost, Emma’s passion is for people – whether she’s moving SMEs through major changes, providing HR services for brands such as GE Consumer Financial Services, Marsh McClennan, Barclays & Sainsbury’s, or helping start-up organisations.

Emma once headhunted candidates from China, India, New Zealand & Australia, for an Australian Investment Bank based out of the Philippines. No sweat.

When not working, Emma is a keen amateur orchestral musician. You’ll also find her on family adventures in the Cotswold countryside, or attempting to train an excitable Portuguese Water Dog puppy.

What makes us different

We believe in delivering honest, affordable and high-quality consulting services to help individuals and organisations harness their potential and gain real work-life fulfilment. This isn’t about sales targets, winning awards and corporate hospitality, it’s about connecting with people to add value, encourage diverse cultures and make organisations, and the people in them, motivated to achieve their aims. We work on a fixed-fee basis so it is transparent from the start and without the need to have unplanned or recurring margins once we have done our job. We’re proud of our Midlands base and West Country origins – we understand the issues that businesses may face in their locality.

Independent

We pride ourselves on our independence and the objectivity it brings. It means we can choose the type of clients we work, usually those who share similar values and beliefs as our own. Yes, we are small, but with that comes a more personal, dedicated service offering than some of the bigger players might give you. You’ll find us easy to deal with, responsive and caring. We’re polished but we have personality too!
